A Guide to Understanding BEPC’s Ordering System

BEPC is often asked, “Why are your part numbers so long?” The answer is that BEPC’s encoders are highly configurable sensing devices with many features and options. These features and options must be called out by the customer so the encoder works properly in its intended application, and so it can do its job correctly.

Each particular feature and option must be called out in the part number, and the only way this can be accomplished is by a rather lengthy part number. For example, below is an example of a part number, and how it breaks down:

15T-05-FF-1000-4A-OC-R-V1-F3-G2-T1-IP64

15TBasic Model Style of the Encoder
05Bore size of the Shaft – In this case 05 is 10mm
FFType of mounting – FF means “”Fixed Flex”
1000Number of Pulses/Cycles per Revolution
4ACommutation Type if required – 4A is 4 Pole
OCOutput type “OC” which is an Open Collector signal without complementary signals.
RType of mounting – FF means ” Fixed Flex”
V1Voltage range of the Encoder – V1 = 5-24 Vcc
F3Operating frequency response – F3 is an Extended Higher Frequency than standard
G2Encoders cable length – G2 means 2 Metre Length
T1the specified temperature, T1 is -40 to 85 degrees C°
IP64Number of output channels – A, B, & Z in this case

What if the number changed?

Another frequently asked question is: “The last time I ordered an Accu-Coder® the part number was 755A-01-0250-LD, and now the part number is much longer. Am I still getting the correct part?” Rest assured, even with the longer system, we can convert the old part number and ensure you are receiving the correct encoder – especially if you have your old unit Serial Number as this can be easily traced.

British Encoder Products Company is always enhancing and upgrading its entire product line. Older part numbers are often shorter because of the lower number of options and features available. To include the new options and features that have been added since the product was first developed, it became necessary to lengthen our part number to be able to include them.
